Today, if you have not as much as a mobile, then you’re probably living under a rock. In fact if you just open your eyes, everything around you screams of high tech. If you don’t try to keep up, you’ll get left behind in every aspect of life. Work, school, relationships- name it; it gets affected one way or the other.

As others put it, we are now living in the technological age. By this it means that everything you do everyday is greatly influenced by technology. All the convenience and quickness that you experience are all because of it. However, to be at apace with technology, you need to shell out some cash.

Yes, the entire world’s convenience comes with a price- and an expensive one at that. All those mobiles, digital cameras, laptops, fast speed internet and all the rest costs an arm and a leg. For some purchases most individuals even have to borrow money to afford them.

And as if that’s not enough to befuddle you, there are newer models being introduced each time. And as new ones come out, it puts to shame the other that have only just been recently introduced themselves.

As expected, the newer gadgets are flashier and boast of more groundbreaking features. Naturally, you’d think twice of what you currently have. You might even mistake that shiny new Iphone 4G to call out your name. Yes, technology is a temptress.

However, you should draw a line between wants and needs. Although it’s imperative to keep up with the times, you won’t go to jail if you can’t afford it. At times, it isn’t practical and is even outrageous to loan money just to buy it. Despite of everything being advanced, you’re not advised to completely ignore the financial aspect of life. As ancient as it sounds, you have to live within your means.

If that new generation touchscreen Iphone is out of your budget, don’t force it. Keep using your old phone if it still serves the purpose. Sure it doesn’t have ‘teleconferencing’ or perhaps even a camera, but do you even really need those features? Furthermore if your digital camera still captures those special moments just fine, then there is no need to pay hundreds of dollars for a nifty new one. Unless you’re aiming to be Demarchelier then no need to lash out the plastics for it.

Everything in the world today is indeed high tech. You should be greatful for the minds behind it but not so as to fall victim to it. Remember, technology is ought to make life easier. Not ambiguous because of your hapless borrowing just to be cool.
